Opportunities for Undergraduate Philosophy Students
The Elie Wiesel Foundation Price in Ethics Essay Contest
“The Elie Wiesel Foundation Price in Ethics Essay Contest, now in its 27th year, challenges college students to analyze the urgent ethical issues confronting them in today’s complex world. Students are encouraged to write thought-provoking personal essays that raise questions, single out issues, and are rational arguments for ethical actions.”
Gonzaga Undergraduate Philosophy Conference- On Protest
Call for Papers “Protest evokes a sense of action and passion. One may react critically and deliberately to a political situation of event. To protest, indeed to rebel, is to stand in the face of that which we deem unacceptable and to work fully and faithfully against it, be it political, cultural, religious or otherwise.”
The Reed Undergraduate Journal
The Reed is now accepting submissions of academic essays, creative writing, and visual art for its 2017 issue. The Reed is an undergraduate journal about existentialism published each spring through the Howard and Edna Hong Kierkegaard Library at St. Olaf College. We define “existentialism” broadly, and will review work that address canonical existentialist thinkers or themes commonly associated with the movement (e.g. absurdity, alienation, subjectivity, paradox, truth as metaphor, etc.).
Please refer to both the poster and submissions guidelines document that are attached to this email. For additional information, visit our website at http://pages.stolaf.edu/thereed/.
